VERY LONG REVIEW. PLEASE READ. Nurse Practitioner Rodrigo Camacho has the absolute worst bedside manner I've come across. He is so incredibly rude. I came into the hospital having had pain in my left shoulder for 3 days. If it weren't Saturday, and I hadn't been in crippling pain, on the floor of my bedroom crying, I would have gone to my doctor's office. The joke of a nurse practitioner ordered x-rays of my shoulder. Understandable. He ordered a shot of Toridol 3 hours after I was in a room. It didn't help at all. I told them it wouldn't, but I was willing to try anything to make the pain stop at that point. Seriously didn't even touch it. He ordered x-rays of my ribs. Also understandable, being that the pain is around/under my left shoulder blade. As I'm typing this, I have yet to know what is wrong with me. He ordered a CT scan of my abdomen and pelvic area? Doesn't make sense. Urine sample? Doesn't make sense. Blood sample? Doesn't make sense. So I refused the things that didn't make sense. He had the nerve to say things to me like "What's wrong with you?" "Don't tell me how to do my job." "You don't need to be crying in here, you're scaring other patients." I told him I was crying because I was in pain and he wasn't doing anything about it. Then I looked at my wrist band and saw that Dr. Deluca was supposed to be my attending. So I asked where he was and Rodrigo Camacho said he was seeing patients. Very sick patients. As though I didn't matter. So I was done with him and demanded to see his superior. Can anyone guess who that was? Dr. Deluca. Thank Heavens. That man is a godsend and the only reason I give the ER 5 stars. Okay, my nurse was friendly, too. She used to work for my boyfriend and was never once rude to me. Dr. Deluca agreed that the other tests Rodrigo had ordered didn't make sense. He apologized several times on his behalf, said he'd talk to him, and promised to take care of me. He even gave me a hug because of how upset I was by the treatment I had received. He handled my pain, looked over my x-rays, and now I'm waiting to be discharged. I got here around noon, it's 5:15. Dr. Deluca came to see me not even 30 minutes ago. Oh, and by the way, once my pain was treated, not only could I move my arm without sobbing from the pain in my shoulder, but my crying was no longer "disturbing other patients." This is the only ER I will ever use as long as I'm in Garland County. I recommend this hospital and it's associated clinics regularly. I even hope to work here someday. But from this point forward I will warn everyone to make sure that they are seeing a REAL PHYSICIAN and not some joker like Rodrigo Camacho, NP. I'm not saying Nurse Practitioners are all bad, I see a LPN at my doctor's office. I just think people should know that this man, Rodrigo Camacho, NP, is not a doctor. He doesn't tell you that he isn't a doctor. And he orders unnecessary tests. MAKE SURE YOU ARE SEEING A REAL DOCTOR. And Dr. Russell Deluca deserves a raise.
Got in at 1630 and sat in waiting room for 30 mins with a bloody finger that was dripping everywhere. They seemed to not care and just gave me a bag to put it in. Was taken to a room that was still messy from last patient and had to wait while they cleaned it. I sat for around 45 mins before the nurse vame in and asked" how long have you been here, I didn't know you were here". Didn't see her for another 30 minutes and thats when she said would be back to clean it with some equipment. Didn't see anyone for 30+ minutes so I went to the nurses station. 1 was on computer and mine was gone (Probably with another patient) I asked if I could just sign out to leave so I could handle it somewhere else. The nurse behind counter said mine would be in to see me shortly. She finally came in about 15 minutes later and cleaned it and said the Dr would be in to see me shortly. I waited for another 45 minutes for him to look at it and say keep it clean and it looked fine. He logged everything into to computer in room and left. Nurse came in with a pain med and gauze to wrap it and that was it. Signed out and left the place. The best thing i can say about the experience was the place was clean and Dr and nurse was nice. Shouldn't have took 3+ hrs to look and clean a knife cut. I won't be using them if I ever need to go to am ER I'll drive outta my way to use someone else
This hospital has become a death sentence for seniors. My Dad was 71 years old and needed heart valve replacement and Dr. Mullins (spelling?) and the people there steered him away from it. Instead they gave him an "Experimental Drug" that was supposed to be good for the heart. I looked up this drug and it was a blood pressure medication, this for a man who's blood pressure was 80s / 40s a lot and at highest 90s / maybe 50. This medication said it "Could help congestive heart failure", which my Dad did have but was not the immediate problem. I see it as they were using him for a cash cow and wanted to provide as little care as possible. After my Dad was sent home he woke up one day, his feet were black and he was suffocating because he was not getting enough oxygen. His heart valves were not pumping enough blood to the lungs and to his extremities. My Dad was dying because of the lack of care he received from this hospital and died as soon as he got to the hospital. I do not see how the people that work here can live with themselves. Now I am watching them do the exact same thing to my step mom, they are not making any attempt to find what is wrong with her, she is in constant pain, and when she comes in the admit her to a psyc ward. She comes in now when she can't live with the pain anymore and is hoping they will finally do something for her. The way they are treating her makes her not want to come in, which is exactly what they want. So what they are doing now is just giving her morphine which is doing nothing whatsoever for her because they just want her to go home, die and stay out of their hair. This is not the care our seniors deserve and I would hope people think about this and watch for these signs of improper care and go elsewhere.
The bedside manner of most of my nurses was absolutely abhorrent. While in the e.r., I was brought a bedside potty full of someone else's poop. Once I got admitted, they brought me a food tray and placed it across the room and out of reach and told me I would have to call for help. When they bedpanned me, they left me sitting in it and when they DID remove it, they left me laying in wet bedding. I pushed the call button for over an hour just trying to get my iv line hooked back up and one OMG my visitors actually did the leg work and brought equipment from another room because the stuff in my room was broken or missing. When they approached me about billing in the emergency room they were very unprofessional asking me how I Intended to pay then and there. Once they were informed it was workers compensation they still somehow got my insurance information which I never provided and billed me instead of comp so now I'm having a major headache on reimbursement. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here let alone someone dying or injured. This place is an overpriced joke. Billed me over $10000 for equipment to bring me used and broken equipment. Shame on you.
Three weeks my spouse has been here...everyday there is another issue...too may cooks in the pudding. Nurses used to be excellent...not any more...sure hope he makes it out of here alive!
