I've always felt the menu in this place suffered from some kind of culinary identity crisis. The service and atmosphere, especially the upper patio are great. The food has never wowed me though. Update: eaten here a few more times. I think the problem I have with the place is the food just doesn't have much spice or kick. It's impressively presented, but common in flavor. I believe great Latin American food should be distinguished by its freshness and flavor more than presentation. It's obvious the chef here doesn't appreciate spicy food. If they even offered some sort of hot sauce or spicy salsa Verde with the meals it would be a huge improvement.
Two words, deliciousness and consistency. These two words adequately describe my Rolando's experience. This review is based upon multiple visits. To be sure, for someone like myself to visit an establishment multiple times the place has to be pretty good. Atmosphere is very chill for lack of a better term. Service is very friendly. The food is DELICIOUS, it doesn't really matter what you've ordered. The prices are reasonable and well deserved. And finally, every single time I've visited Rolando's, more than 6 times, the atmosphere, service and food have been CONSISTENTLY good! That's a major plus in my book.

The ambiance of the outdoor patio is amazing. I wish the food had been as good. Everything had an overall bland flavor and unfortunately tasted of old grease. It tasted exactly the way it smelled when we walked in. We (my husband, my 8 year old son, and myself) spent a;most $60. It's not worth it!1
